& Entrepreneurship  is based on a
multi-disciplinary concept of
interfacing the applied aspects
of design, management and technology in an integrated fashion, within the overall
context of handicrafts.
This programme enables:
• Strategic thought and creative response to an extremely competitive
and fast-changing business environment
• Understanding and application of the inherent strengths of the
handmade sector towards effective performance,
commercial viability and sustainability
• Entrepreneurship and a capability to conceive, establish and manage enterprises focused on design and technology-led intervention

Designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, craft managers in private or
social ventures or future trainers in GOs or NGOs, the programme is
structured to develop conceptual capabilities by way of introducing
students to fresh methods of thinking, strategy building and
communication techniques as well as understanding of the socio-cultural, production and business related issues. It focuses on enhancing the professional abilities of students with inputs on management, finance & accounting, marketing, economics and entrepreneurship.
ELIGIBILITY: A candidate who has obtained bachelors degree in any discipline or any other qualification which is recognized by the University of Kashmir as equivalent qualification with 50% marks in aggregate under open merit category and 45%  in case of students falling under reserved categories.
DURATION: 2 years.

All incidental expenses towards stationary, materials, out station visits etc shall be borne by the student in  addition to the programme fee.

 
TEACHING METHODOLOGY:The teaching methodology is ‘learning centric’ rather than ‘teaching centric’ with an interactive and participatory approach focusing on the individual requirements of a student. Teaching methods include lectures, presentation, workshops & seminars, case studies, real-life projects, industry internships and intensive exposure through involvement in professional projects or visits to related events & institutions. The programme will have a core faculty at CDI and draw on the external resources and expertise of eminent professionals, institutions and related industries.
EVALUATION: The evaluation of a student would be a continuous process and involve both qualitative as well as quantitative methods. The evaluation system will include self & peer assessment as well as feedback and cumulative assessment. Specific criteria of assessment will be indicated with reference to a given format of evaluation such as a written examination, research project, seminar, jury panel or presentation.

Conceived in response to the significant needs of the regional handicraft industry, the Textile Design and Application programme aims to make design professionals strategic pivots for transformation.
This programme enables:
• A functional understanding of design and its application in a
commercial context
• An applied understanding of materials, processes, tools and
techniques related to textiles
• Relevant technical skills and a knowledge-base necessary for
design development and execution
• An awareness of local and global contexts that affect design and
production parameters

Textile-based domestic businesses and exports contribute
significantly to the income of the regional industry while also
generating considerable revenue for the state of Jammu &
Kashmir. However, there exists greater potential for growth
that can be triggered by strategic design and technical intervention
that will enable innovation, diversification and profitability in
international markets. Graduates can pursue careers as textile
designers in regional, textile-based handicraft enterprises or the
non-government sector engaged in vocational training or income
generating activities. Those with production or business
backgrounds will have developed the capability to apply newly
acquired skills in their existing units
ELIGIBILITY: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fine Arts/ Applied Arts/ Textile Design/ Garment Technology, from a recognized institution. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the bachelor’s degree/ diploma may also apply subject to furnishing evidence at the time of admission or a date prescribed by the CDI.
DURATION: 1 year with an additional 6 months of internship and professional project with related industry.

Proposals are under active consideration to establish necessary networking and MoUs with financial & support institutions which could provide scholarships as well as assist the graduates in establishment of their own business ventures. Such schemes will be announced to the students as soon as they are finalized.

For Masters in Craft Management & Entrepreneurship , applicants are required to appear for  written tests ( MAT & DAT)  in order to verify the necessary background & aptitude needed.
