At CDI, research, consultancy
& extension services provide a
critical platform for
experience, knowledge
resources and core capability development.
The Institute is actively engaged in several initiatives related to documentation and research of handicrafts, envisioning directions for tools, technology & infrastructure development, IPR protection, branding and quality certification projects as well as building of knowledge banks and information dissemination systems. CDI has been a pro-active leader in anchoring and mobilizing initiatives such as the registration of several regional handicrafts under the Geographical Indications Act.

The Institute’s professional consultancy services are available to individuals or organizations on a project basis. The consultancy wing of CDI outlines project proposals to indicate parameters, methodology and financial implications.

CDI provides consultancy services in the following areas:

• Market research & opportunity mapping
• Market trends
• Skill-based training
• Tool & technology development
• Branding & promotion
• Intellectual property protection

CDI’s professional services can be availed by individuals or organisations on a project consultancy basis. The regular services related to information & database and other reference materials available at the resource centre, are also accessible to artisans, industry and other organisations on a membership basis.

In case of specific requirements related to professional services from the Institute, the consultancy wing of CDI can outline project proposals to indicate parameters, methodology & financial implications, if desired by a client.
